FF9 crashes at certain point?

A little after I beat that Dragon, Garland, and Kuja, the game will just freeze, not dirrectly after I beat them, but a little after I get all the people of Terra on the Ship, What do I do to fix this? I might buy another copy of the game, but I don't want to waste money on something I don't need.
